Win tix to Misty Copeland: A Ballerina's Tale in Toronto

Tours en l'air has 8 pairs of tickets to give away to  A BALLERINA’S TALE (Monday, February 25, 6:30 pm) AT HOT DOCS CINEMA. Contest ends February 18 at midnight.

In 2013, Misty Copeland was given the lead role in the American Ballet Theatre production of Ratmansky's Firebird, becoming the company's first African American female soloist since the 1980s. Offstage she discovered that she had six fractures in her shin, leading many to doubt she would dance again. Journalist and director Nelson George follows Misty during a crucial period in her life, from the triumph of Firebird to her return to ballet and emergence as a pop sensation.

To enter the contest, send an email to toursenlair@gmail.com with the subject line MISTY.

Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur (Quebec) – RESPONSE NEEDED

 guillaume-cocc82te-et-heather-ogden-photo-by-johan-persson-courtesy-of-the-national-ballet-of-canada-1

Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur (Quebec)
The program has been announced, and Tours en l'air is looking at a trip to support Guillaume Côté. Please let me know ASAP (toursenlair@gmail.com) if you would be interested in either of the hotel options below. This is not a commitment; it is just a way for me to gauge if there is enough interest for me to pursue this further.

Wednesday August 10 - Saturday August 13, 2 performances (plus one optional)

Guillaume Côté and dancers of the National Ballet of Canada:

The Story of us (Marcelo Gomes, World Premiere, with Heather Ogden)
Venom (Côté)
The Sleeping Beauty prince's solo
Dance me to the end of love (Côté)

Solos and pas de deux from the classical, neoclassical and contemporary repertoires:

    • Guillaume Côté – National Ballet of  Canada
    • Heather Ogden – National Ballet of  Canada
    • Misty Copeland – American Ballet Theatre
    • Blaine Hoven - American Ballet Theatre
    • Nehemiah Kish – The Royal Ballet
    • Yuhui Choe – The Royal Ballet
    • Anne Plamondon - Independent artist
    • more dancers TBA

Optional performance:

Louise Lecavalier and Frédéric Tavernini in So Blue.

I am looking at the following package:
Coach transport from Toronto to Saint-Sauveur including shuttle between hotel and performance venue

Lunch on the way to Saint-Sauveur and back

1 dinner in Saint-Sauveur

3 nights hotel

Ballet tickets

Day trip into Montreal from Saint-Sauveur

My current estimate for this trip is:
$1650 per person double occupancy, $225 in addition for guaranteed single occupancy – 4-star hotel, not including breakfast

The package price could be reduced by about $300 (and would include breakfast) if we stay at a 3-star hotel, but this hotel has

 no elevator
a walk up a short but very steep hill to the entrance from the street (access is level from where the bus would drop us off)
