English National Ballet Emerging Dancer Competition Livestream May 7

10th annual competition to be live streamed next Tuesday
https://youtu.be/vtwcDYAQ5wc  English National Ballet will live stream this inspiring night of dance from Sadler’s Wells on Tuesday 7 May starting at 7.25pm BST (2.25 pm Eastern Time) Selected by their peers, six of the Company’s most promising dancers perform in front of an eminent panel of expert judges, before one receives the 2019 Emerging Dancer Award. Ahead of the show, watch videos introducing you to the six finalists: Alice Bellini, Emilia Cadorin, Julia Conway, Rentaro Nakaaki, Shale Wagman and Rhys Antoni Yeomans.   Hosted by former Principal of The Royal Ballet Adam Cooper, the evening sees them perform classical pas de deux and contemporary solos. The finalists will first perform a classical pas de deux, followed by a contemporary solo. This year will see Rhys Antoni Yeomans and Emilia Cadorin dance a pas de deux from Coppélia, Shale Wagman and Alice Bellini will perform the Grand Pas Classique, and Rentaro Nakaaki and Julia Conway dance Flames of Paris. Rhys Antoni Yeomans will then dance a solo from William Forsythe’s In The Middle, Somewhat Elevated, while Emilia Cadorin will dance BAM! choreographed by First Soloist Fabian Reimair, who has also composed the music to accompany the piece. Shale Wagman will perform Peculiar Mind choreographed by Nürnberg Ballet dancer Sofie Vervaecke, and Alice Bellini performs Danish choreographer Sebastian Kloborg’s CLAN B. Julia Conway has worked with Rambert dancer Miguel Altunaga to create her solo piece Untitled Code, and Rentaro Nakaaki has worked with choreographer Nuno Campos, who has created Own for Rentaro to perform on the evening. The evening will also see a special performance from last year’s Emerging Dancer Award winner Daniel McCormick, who will perform a pas de deux from Don Quixote with First Artist Francesca Velicu. "Balanchine's Guys" livestream

On Monday, February 5, the National Dance Institute (NDI) is bringing together three of New York City Ballet's former star male dancers—Jacques d'Amboise, Edward Villella and Arthur Mitchell—in a one-night-only program titled Balanchine's Guys. These ballet veterans will discuss what it was like dancing for George Balanchine, and the impact that he had on their lives. All three men graced the stages of NYCB over a period stretching from the late 1940s through the 1980s, and served as inspiration for a number of the great choreographer's most famous works.  The first twenty minutes are available on Pointe Magazine's website.

PNB livestreams Forsythe lecture-demo March 11th

Legendary choreographer William Forsythe will join Pacific Northwest Ballet on stage for a rare lecture-demonstration on the eve of the first American program devoted entirely to his work. The evening will feature a candid interview of Mr. Forsythe by Peter Boal, a peek behind the curtain to watch Mr. Forsythe working with PNB dancers, and an opportunity for audience members to ask questions. William Forsythe’s career focused primarily in Germany with Ballet Frankfurt, and now has just been named associate choreographer at Paris Opera Ballet. PNB will perform two Forsythe PNB premieres: New Suite and The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, along with the return of In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated. PNB has been performing Forsythe work since the 1998 Company premiere of Artifact II. This is Mr. Forsythe’s first visit to PNB to work directly with PNB dancers, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome this groundbreaking artist to our studios.
