guided tour at Montreal Museum of Fine Arts of Chagall:
Colour and Music. The
biggest Canadian exhibition ever devoted to Marc Chagall
(1887-1985), it features 340 art works and a large selection of
photographs, films, and musical excerpts.
This
exhibition is the first to focus on Chagall’s profound connection
to music. It includes a projection of a close-up view of the famous
ceiling
of the Paris Opera,
allowing us to appreciate the splendour of this monumental decor
and view details that are normally not visible to the naked eye.
Three
galleries are devoted to the ballets for which Chagall designed the
sets and costumes: Aleko
(1942, Mexico City), The
Firebird
(1945, New York) and Daphnis
and Chloe
(Brussels-Paris, 1958-1959).
Evening:
three-course dinner in the company of Les
Grands Ballets Canadiens Ukrainian demi-soloist Anya
Nesvitaylo
and her husband, former dancer and current dance and fashion
photographer Sasha
Onyshchenko, followed
by performance
of National Ballet of Ukraine (also known as the Taras Shevchenko
National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine or Kiev Ballet): The
Marriage of Figaro (Yeremenko).
