Wheeldon's new Nutcracker rehearsal live stream

Nutcracker Live Stream

On Thursday, September 8, 2016, The Joffrey Ballet offers a rare glimpse into the work behind the grace in a live stream rehearsal of the highly anticipated world premiere of Christopher Wheeldon's Nutcracker.

For only the second time, the Joffrey offers the public a glimpse into the rehearsal process with a live stream via its online YouTube channel. Once again, Tony Award®-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon will coach the dancers on his new production of The Nutcracker, which will have its world premiere by The Joffrey Ballet at the Auditorium Theatre (50 E. Congress Pkwy.), December 10-30, 2016.

Seeing the master at work and watching the impeccably trained dancers of the Company is a one-day-only opportunity, Thursday, September 8, 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM central daylight time. Joffrey Artistic Director, Ashley Wheater, will serve as host and moderator for viewers, introducing Wheeldon and conducting brief interviews. The live stream is produced by Big Foot Media.

Christopher Wheeldon, winner of the 2015 Tony Award® for Best Choreography for the Broadway hit An American in Paris, reimagines the beloved holiday classic The Nutcracker, for a new generation, replacing the traditional 19th century setting with Chicago's 1893 World's Fair. Wheeldon's stunning choreography and the Artistic Team's visionary design will celebrate a turn-of-the-century Chicago as seen through the eye's of a child.
