I am very excited that Matthew Golding will be guesting with the National Ballet of Canada this year! 2013/14 Season Roster:
Svetlana Lunkina and Evan McKie
Principal Guest Artists
August 21, 2013… Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, today announced Svetlana Lunkina and Evan McKie will join the company in the 2013/14 season as Principal Guest Artists.
Svetlana Lunkina,
former Bolshoi Ballet Principal Dancer, was born in Moscow and trained
at the Moscow Choreographic Academy before joining the Bolshoi Ballet.
Internationally celebrated for her performances of such roles as
Giselle, Kitri in Don Quixote and Odette/Odile in Swan Lake,
National Ballet audiences were introduced to Ms. Lunkina when she
guested with the company on June 12 at MAD HOT HOT BALLET: Dangerous
Love.
Evan McKie,
Principal Dancer with Stuttgart Ballet, was born in Toronto and trained
at Canada’s National Ballet School as well as at the Kirov Academy of
Ballet and John Cranko School. Mr. McKie has received critical acclaim
for many roles including Hamlet, Onegin, Siegfried in Swan Lake and Prince Florimund in The Sleeping Beauty, among others. He appeared as a guest artist last year with the National Ballet in Giselle and The Sleeping Beauty.
Appearing as Guest Artists in the 2013/14 season are Matthew Golding and JirĂ Jelinek.
Canadian born Mr. Golding is currently a Principal Dancer with the
Dutch National Ballet. He trained at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet
School, Universal Ballet Academy in Washington D.C. and at The Royal
Ballet School. Mr. Jelinek was a Principal Dancer with the National
Ballet from 2010 to 2013 and is currently a Leading Artist with West
Australian Ballet in Perth, Australia.
