Director Frederick Wiseman turns his lens to the centuries-old Paris Opera Ballet, making us a fly-on-the-wall as the world-renowned dance institution prepares to mount seven star-studded ballets, including Rudolph Nureyev’s The Nutcracker and Pina Bausch’s Orphee and Eurydice. Wiseman gives us rare behind-the-scenes access to the whole of the company, from its designers and musicians to its choreographers and, of course, its star dancers, as they journey from rehearsal hall to the stage.
