NYCB, NBOC, Aspen Santa Fe to share Saratoga Springs 2013 season

In an article in the Saratoga Times Union, the executive director of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Marcia White, confirmed that New York City Ballet's residency there will be reduced to one week in July 2013. The remaining two weeks of the dance season will be provided by the National Ballet of Canada and Aspen Santa Fe Ballet.

White said that she is in discussions with New York City Ballet’s Ballet Master-in-Chief Peter Martins about the programming for next season and announced that the dates for the company’s Saratoga program will be July 9 – 13. There will be a total of seven performances including two matinees.
Tours en l'air will be organizing a weekend trip to Saratoga to see NYCB Friday July 12 to Sunday July 14 (three performances). If you wish to be kept updated on this trip, which will be booking in March 2013, please email me at toursenlair@gmail.com

“The National Ballet of Canada will present four performances in Saratoga, July 16 – July 18: traditional and contemporary repertoire, including Giselle. This dramatic story ballet, which has never been performed at SPAC before, will be one of the biggest events of the season,” said White.

The third week of the dance series will feature Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, “a company infused with a modern aesthetic and spirit. With bold and inventive works highlighted by athletic movement and striking staging, it has aptly been called a dance company for ‘a new era.’”
Working between its two home cities of Aspen and Santa Fe, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is internationally recognized for groundbreaking programming and artistic excellence. Founded in 1996 by Bebe Schweppe, the versatile and gifted troupe of 12 dancers performs an eclectic repertoire of pieces by some of the world’s foremost choreographers. The company will present three performances in Saratoga, July 24 – 25 including one matinee.
