I am very proud to share a birthday today with Antonin Dvorak. Possibly my favourite piece of his is his String Serenade, with which I became acquainted when my very first ballet teacher, Larry Hayden, choreographed a piece called The Whims of Love to it for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Here's another ballet using the same music, called Dvorak Serenade, by John Clifford, performed by Ballet British Columbia.
This performance starts in silence, and it is pretty dark, but it soon lightens up.

Hope you had a wonderful birthday, it was mine as well, 40th in fact! Cheers! Amy
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you too, Amy. Mine coincided with a 40th anniversary too, but in my case it was my 40th anniversary of doing ballet classes. I wore a tutu and tiara to class to mark the occasion!
