Alexandre Riabko of Hamburg Ballet to guest in Nijinsky in Toronto

National Ballet of Canada Principal Dancer Guillaume Côté, Corps de Ballet member Skylar Campbell and Guest Artist Alexandre Riabko (Principal Dancer with The Hamburg Ballet) will dance the title role in Nijinsky. John Neumeier’s acclaimed production receives its Canadian premiere on March 2. For full casting and performance date, click here
To buy tickets, click here.
I saw Riabko in Neumeier's Sleeping Beauty and was very impressed! Can't wait to see him in Nijinsky, as he has been getting rave reviews:
 "Throughout, Alexandre Riabko made for a fine Nijinsky Friday, tormented, driven and yet graceful in detail, including the snake-like, evocative undulation of his arm, a small gesture of a salute to a major genius." -Chicago Tribune

"an inspired performance from Alexandre Riabko" - Time Out Chicago

"The more you know about Nijinsky (a marathon performance by the mesmerizing Alexandre Riabko, full of heat, beauty, anguish and dazzling technique), the more you can appreciate this ballet" Chicago Sun-Times

For Superbowl Sunday: a collection of ballet and football items on the web

There are more links between ballet and football (American football, rugby, soccer) out there than you might think. I was inspired by San Francisco Ballet's funny blog posting of juxtaposed ballet and football pictures to go looking for other material and to compile it all here. Thanks to the members of balletcoforum for providing some UK links:

Northern Ballet and Leeds Rhinos rugby team:

Arsenal and English National Ballet::

English National Ballet performs a "football ballet": The Beautiful Game

And to wrap up, this:
