There are two ways you can subscribe to Tours en l'air by email.

1) If you want my posts delivered to your inbox every time the site is updated:

a) (If you are not reading this on a mobile device) simply type your email address into the "Subscribe to e-newsletter" window above. A popup window from Feedburner (the service I use for email subscriptions) will then appear. Type in the code that appears in the window (this is how Feedburner knows you are a real person and not a spamming computer). You will then get an email asking you to reconfirm your subscription.

b) If you are reading this on a mobile device: please email me at toursenlair@gmail.com
with the subject line SUBSCRIBE.

2) If you would prefer a monthly (on average) compendium of the highlights (my favourite videos, info about what's on in ballet, if I have any ballet trips or group outings coming up, and your chance to have input into the ballet trips as they are being planned), please email me at toursenlair@gmail.com to have your name added to my mailing list.

Bolshoi Sleeping Beauty & Swan Lake
The Bolshoi will be streaming their Sleeping Beauty live to cinemas around the world on January 22. In Canada, Cineplex theatres will be showing the ballet starting at 1255 pm.

A repeat of the Bolshoi's Swan Lake  (a pretty vile production in my opinion), starring Svetlana Zakharova (Odette/Odile) and Denis Rodkin (Prince Siegfried), will be broadcast in most countries on February 5 and in Cineplex theatres in Canada on Sunday February 12 at 1255.

To find a Cineplex showing the Bolshoi near you, click here and fill in the name of your city and the name of the ballet.

Free livestream of The Snow Queen from Finnish National Ballet

Lumikuningatar / The Snow Queen (Suomen Kansallisbaletti / Finnish National Ballet) HD
This ballet is a kind of Nutcracker substitute, with much more dancing in the second act than in the first. A narrator is part of the cast, so there is quite a bit of talking (in Finnish, naturally). You probably need to read the synopsis here to understand what's going on.

Alexei Ratmansky's The Bright Stream starring Svetlana Lunkina

This very very funny ballet is just chock-full of brilliant dancing from the Bolshoi's best. I am looking at organizing a special screening of it on Sunday February 12th at 930 am at the Yonge and Dundas Cineplex in Toronto. However, I need another 60 people to sign up to see it (at $25 per ticket) to cover the costs. TICKETS WILL HAVE TO BE BOUGHT IN ADVANCE. There will be no tickets available at the door and the broadcast will not happen without sufficient pre-enrollment. Please click below to let me know if you would come!

Yes, I want to see The Bright Stream
Videos
This 15-minute video talks to 4 male dancers at different stages of their career in Zurich: starting at age 8, in the ballet school age 16, just entered the Junior Company (Canadian dancer and Canada's National Ballet School graduate Patrick Foster) and at age 38 and starting a choreographic career. A recurring theme: How hard it is for boys to take up ballet.
A wonderful feature on NYCB's charming, humble, joyful Principal Dancer. Click on the image and start at 1 hr 16 mins
For a laugh:
Odette as a bird of a different feather.
