Arrive Stuttgart; check in to 5-star Schlossgarten Hotel, 4 minutes walk from opera house. Early evening: Meet-and-greet in the hotel's John-Cranko lounge. You may arrive earlier in Stuttgart if you wish.
Sat. 16 July
Morning: 2-hour walking tour of central Stuttgart. Afternoon at leisure. Evening: Welcome 3-course dinner before performance of companies whose directors are Stuttgart Ballet alumni: Dancers of the Korean National Ballet, Czech National Ballet, Ballett Zürich, Ballet du Rhin, Augsburg Ballett, Ballett im Revier and Gauthier Dance: Mixed Program.
Sun. 17 July
Morning at leisure. You can relax in one of Stuttgart's mineral baths, stroll in the lovely Schlossgarten, or have some classic coffee and cake at a cafe. Visit one of Stuttgart's renowned art galleries, or the Mercedes-Benz or Porsche museum, or the botanical garden and zoo. Afternoon or evening (the group will be split because the theatre is very small) Stuttgart Ballet: Mixed Program (excerpts from Stuttgart Ballet world premieres of the last 20 years). Evening: “The Next Generation” Artistic Directors Sue Jin Kang, Filip Barankiewicz, Christian Spuck, Ivan Cavallari, Robert Conn, Bridget Breiner und Eric Gauthier discuss the future.
Mon. 18 July
Day trip by private luxury coach to Baden-Baden and the Black Forest (approx 1 ½ – 2 hours each way depending on traffic). Private guided 2-hour walking tour of the historic luxury spa town of Baden-Baden. Drive through the picturesque Black Forest and visit the picture-postcard town of Schiltach. Return to Stuttgart. Evening at leisure.
Tues. 19 July
Day trip by private luxury coach to Northern Bavaria (approx 2 hours each way). Our private luxury coach transports you to the idyllic medieval town of Dinkelsbuhl for the colourful Kinderzeche festival, commemorating how the town was spared destruction in the Thirty Years' War. Continue along the “Romantic Road” to the almost perfectly preserved 16th century town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Evening: performance of works by choreographers who came out of the Stuttgart Ballet: the second detail (Forsythe), Beethoven's 7th Symphony (Scholz), new Marco Goecke
Wed. 20 July
Day at leisure. Evening Stuttgart Ballet : Romeo and Juliet (Cranko)
Thurs. 21 July
Day trip by high-speed train to Strasbourg, France (approx. 1¼ hours each way). 2-hour private guided tour of historic Strasbourg. Lunch. Boat trip on the Ill River. Evening: Stuttgart Ballet: The Taming of the Shrew (Cranko).
Fri. 22 July
Day trip by private luxury coach (1 hour each way) to Heidelberg, Germany's most famous university town, dating from the Middle Ages. Walking tour of the old town and visit to the castle. Return to Stuttgart. Evening: Stuttgart Ballet: Onegin (Cranko)
Sat. 23 July
Visit by train (1/2 hr) to Ludwigsburg, the Versailles of southern Germany, with private guided tour of the interior of one of Germany's biggest baroque palaces and its beautiful gardens. Evening performance: John Cranko School Gala.
Sun. 24 July
Day at leisure. Farewell dinner before Stuttgart Ballet Closing Gala.
Mon. 25 July: STUTTGART
Check out of hotel and depart STUTTGART. (You may extend your stay if you wish).
