$57 tickets for Nijinsky and Manon

For the last two performances of its November runs of Nijinsky, a fabulous ballet by John Neumeier, and Manon, a not-to-be missed ballet by Kenneth MacMillan, the National Ballet of Canada is reducing ticket prices in the back three rows of the orchestra. For Saturday evenings November 15 (Manon) and November 29 (Nijinsky) and Sunday afternoons November 16th (Manon) and November 30th (Nijinsky), on either side of the centre block of seats, you can get a ticket for only $57, an amazing deal for good seats for a live ballet performance with full orchestra. Regular price for these seats is $131. Centre rear orchestra seats are $97 instead of $131.

A beautiful Prince Désiré

Bravo to the Paris Opera Ballet's Mathias Heymann for making Nureyev's inelegant and unmusical choreography look elegant and musical! This is a just about perfect performance of this notoriously difficult solo. I was very disappointed that injury prevented this beautiful dancer from making the trip to Montreal for Paquita last month.

and an interesting interview with POB's new director, Benjamin Millepied:
